1. Are you related with Ericsson ?

No. The Ericsson T28 Knowledge Base is in no way related with the company which manufactures the phone. The information which is provided here comes from several months of enthusiast ownership of a T28 mobile phone, and from information collection among various sources. It is completely unofficial. As a result, all information given here is given without any warranty of liability of accuracy and will be used by the reader at his own risks. For more information, we suggest you to read our disclaimer.

2. Where can I find / Can you provide me with the address of the nearest Ericsson service center ?

Each country is different when it comes about service centers. Most European countries have Ericsson service points which are often a excellent places to have your phone repaired, upgraded or to buy original Ericsson accessories. A good starting point to find the address of your local Ericsson service center is  obviously the local Ericsson website, but we are not a phone directory and, as a result, we can not make a rule of providing you with the address you are looking for.

3. Are you dealing with unlocking ?

No. We can not and are not willing to answer questions dealing with unlocking and related issues (e.g. flashing memory with new versions of software). Let us just recall that unlocking a phone is an illegal operation in most countries, and that you can probably have your phone upgraded free of charge to the latest software version  in your Ericsson service center.

4. How can I contribute to the site ?

The contribution policy of the site is to have all propositions reviewed by the team. To read about how to submit your contributions, read our contact us page.

Here are topics we are currently seeking submissions on : latest version of the software for T28s and T28 world; (small) historic of software versions; functions implemented in software versions; links to Ericsson and mobile phones related àwebsites; and all T28 info you will send us.

5. How does the site respect privacy ?

This is an issue the T28 Knowledge Base is definitely very concerned about. As mentioned in our disclaimer, we do not collect any personal information of yours when you visit our website. The data your browser is sending to the server are only kept with total respect to your anonymity for statistical purposes. The site does not make use of cookies or related material.

The only exception to what is stated here is our newsletter. On a voluntary basis, you can decide to provide us with your e-mail address. This address is kept in a secure place and in a secure way on our servers, and is gathered to the only purpose of sending you once a month on the average a short, plain text e-mail to give you news about the website. Our e-mail collection will never be sold or ceased to any third-party, and we will not use the addresses for other purposes than sending the newsletter. Moreover, we provide two easy ways to unsubscribe instantly from the newsletter: via the newsletter's homepage, or at the end of each newsletter you receive.

6. Why don't you offer a newsletter's archive ?

The main reason why we don't propose a newsletter's archive on the website is that these newsletters principally deal with "what's new" issues that are losing a lot of their interest a couple of weeks after they are issued. So if you want to know what is in our newsletters, the only way is to subscribe

Although we understand your concerns about providing your e-mail address, we can assure you we only send an e-mail per month (maximum), and that a straightforward possibility (no confirmation, no questions ...) to unsubscribe is given. We suggest you read FAQ #5 for more details about your privacy.

7. Got no clue about the T28, but I want to help your initiative

Why not dreaming ? Contact us and we will surely find a way ! ;-)

8. Can you please send me the code for unlocking the phone/the SIM card ?

We're adding this, although it might sound a lot like the FAQ #3 (related to unlocking), because we receive almost weekly mails asking this kind of question. The answer is no. Bear in mind that not two phones have the same unlocking codes (that should sound obvious, but it seems it is not for people writing), and that we can not provide you with this code. Should we be able to, we would not do it because it is illegal. From this date on [1st May 2001], all e-mail regarding unlocking issues will be ignored.

9. I am using Vodafone/Cellnet/FTM/MTN/{any network provider here} . How do I {any network related question here} ?

Sorry, can not help. Try to figure out we cannot know all details regarding all cell networks in the world. People often seem not to make a distinction between a phone and the network. The purpose of this site is to provide information about the T28 phone. All what regards your network provider should be asked to your network provider, and it is probably so that we do not know the answer to the question you are asking.

10. Where can I have my phone upgraded to the latest software version ?

Ericsson Service Points (see FAQ #2 to know why we will not be able to provide you the address of the nearest one for you) upgrade phones to the latest software version freely when they are under warranty. Ericsson authorized dealers, privileged partners and associated will probably do it as well.

11. Where can I download logos and ringtones about the T28 ?

There are two parts in this question. 1° logos. Unlike Nokia, Ericsson does not allow to modify the logo displayed in standby. Your T28 will display your network provider's name, and nothing else. There are no ways to change this. 2° ringtones. We provide some links to websites offering ringtones. Unlike Nokia again, you can not have these ringtones downloaded and sent to your phone by SMS. The only way to have new melodies on your phone is to compose them by yourself. For more websites, please use a good search engine and type something like 'ericsson ringtones'. It works. Seriously.
